Black Star is our monthly Northern online and print anarchist news sheet that aims to provide irreverent, class struggle and revolutionary news from the wee north and beyond. Written by members of Organise! in the north the focus is unashamedly working-class, local and global.

Black Star isn’t entirely new. The first two issues were put together back when cut and paste meant actually cutting and pasting. Clunky typewriters, photocopied, cut out and pritt sticked in images, letraset headlines. The anarchist propagandists of 80’s Ballymena were a dedicated bunch. What? Ballymena?
Yep, the very first Black Star was published in October 1981 by Ballymena Anarchist Group. They went on to become a component part of Organise! which first became an anarcho-syndicalist group in 1986.
